Joseph “Joe” Wallace “Wally” Hampt, 72, of Westminster, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Joe was born on November 14, 1945 in Reisterstown and was the son of the late William Augusta and Margaret (Sprinkle) Hampt Jr He was the loving husband of Shirley Mae (Anderson) Hampt, his wife of 36 years.

He was a member of American Legion Carroll Post 31, Mayberry Game Protective Association, and Church of the Open Door in Westminster. Joe was a hard worker and a devoted family man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, yard work and house work.

Surviving in addition to his wife is beloved son Shawn Michael Hampt and wife Amy of Manchester; siblings Sue Sorlucco of West Virginia, Marion McElroy and husband Martin of West Virginia, William Augusta Hampt III and wife Nancy of Hampstead and Robert Hampt of West Virginia; grandchildren Sophie Grace Hampt and Emmett Lee Hampt; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his brother in law Jerry Sorlucco. The family will receive friends on Wednesday April 11, 2018 at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd.

, Westminster from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd, Westminster MD 21157. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to either the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital (Dr. Mark Levis and his team) or Church of the Open Door, The Next Step Ministry. Online Condolences may be offered at www.
