Joseph “Joey” Reyes, age 9 months of Anderson, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at Community Hospital Anderson, Saturday, May 25, 2019. He was born August 15, 2018, in Anderson, Indiana to Olivia M. Reyes and Michael Torkelson. Joey was a special baby who lit up the room with his brilliant smile.

Strangers would stop in their tracks and take time to comment on how beautiful he was, immediately he would smile for them. Joey was a blessing to anyone who had the opportunity to meet him. Every day that Joey was here was a blessing that will continue for as long as memories last.

Every single smile was as beautiful as the sunrise. He had a unique smile for the people he loved, but he gave everyone his time. For his mother, Joey’s smile was a lifeline, a reminder of the beauty that rests in the perfection of the celestial artist who created him.

For his father, Joey’s smile said, “welcome, and I love you”. Joey gave his father the reason he needed to get over his struggles and battles. Joey held his own spot in this world with strength and courage.

His parents find solace in knowing he will never experience the pain they are feeling now. For them, he will always be frozen in time as a perfect little boy who was given to a woman and man to be called son. His memory will forever be cherished, and the lesson to appreciate the little things has been learned.

Joey Michael Reyes, you will be missed and loved forever. Survivors include his mother, Olivia M. Reyes of Anderson; father, Michael G. Torkelson of Flora; Evan Hallgarth (who loved and cared for him like a son); maternal grandmother, Joann C. Dinger; maternal grandfather, Gregory A. Dinger; paternal grandfather, Mark E.
