Joseph K. Maddox was born in Oaktown, Indiana on March 13, 1921 and passed away June 3, 2018, in Leesburg, Florida. After graduating from Oaktown High School, Joseph began his career as a pipefitter. His career went on hold in 1942 when he enlisted in the Army, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

After returning from the war, he married the love of his life, M. Josephine Dooley in October 1949. The couple eventually welcomed three children into their home, Linda, Duane and David. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years on March 1, 2018.

Also preceding him in death were two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by their three children, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Area nieces and nephews include Carole Helderman, James Mason, Cathy Griggs, Curtis Maddox, Ron Maddox, Reed Maddox and Lauri Houghton.

Interment will be in the Oaktown Cemetery with Allan Griggs conducting the graveside service. Military honors will be provided by the All-Weather Firing Squad.
