Joseph Patrick Norton, Jr. Belleville Coach and Proud Grandfather Belleville Resident for over 55 Years Mr. Joseph Patrick Norton, Jr., 81, of Belleville, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. The funeral will be conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Monday, May 7 at 8:45 a.m. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, Belleville at 10:00 a.m. The interment will be at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 6 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Joe grew up in Jersey City and resided in Belleville for over 55 years.

He worked at Vari-Typer Corp. in Hanover for 25 years, and Pittston Petroleum in Montvale and Bella Casa Caterers for the past 31 years. Joe coached Belleville Recreation baseball and basketball for 15 years, and also coached Belleville Little League baseball for 15 years.

He was the first coach in Belleville to draft a girl on his Little League team. Joe served in the US Army for two years, and was a third degree knight in the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 835 in Belleville. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 59 years Lillian (nee Ventrella) Norton; his three loving and caring sons, Joseph and his wife Karen of Nutley, Peter and his wife Renee of Es Fells, and David and his wife Sheri of West Caldwell; his six cherished grandchildren Kristie, Peter, David, Bryan and Megan and Lindsey; and his loving sister Patricia Martorano.

He was also the loving uncle to Walter, Kim and Adam Johnson. He had two granddogs Bruce and Diego. Joe was a devoted friend of Bill W. for the past 24 years.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Joseph Sr. and Lillian (nee Flynn) Norton, and a sister Shirley Weir. A very special thank you to Patient Care, Hospice and the Belleville Fire and Police Department. Joe will be missed by everyone who knew him, and the world is a better place because he passed through it.
