Josephine J. Godocsik, 98 Campbell…Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Debbie Cerra officiating, for Josephine J. Godocsik, 98, who passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018. Josephine was born March 18, 1920, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Malvina Bojda Oberman. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a lifelong area resident.

Josephine was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church of Boardman. She belonged to Lydia Circle. Josephine was active in her church, and over the years she served as a Deacon and Elder, and sang in the church choir.

Josephine loved to sew and do crafts. She was an avid bowler, even well into her 90’s. Her husband, John Godocsik, whom she married June 20, 1938, passed away January 3, 1999.

Josephine will be deeply missed by her four daughters, Louise Schumm of Denver, Shirley (Steve) Willich of Campbell, Carol Sperber of San Francisco, and Monica Kenworthy of Atlanta; her grandchildren, Lori (Bennett) Kennedy, John Vavlas, Ken Schumm, Damon Sperber and Julia Rosado; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Ben Oberman of Youngstown. Besides her parents; and her husband, John, she was preceded in death by her grandsons Steven Vavlas and Ed Schumm; brothers, Walter and Ted Oberman; and her sisters, Jenny Snyder, Bernice Chittock, Cecilia Oberman and Lillian Syms. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Mercy Health and Hospice of the Valley for the wonderful care given to Josephine.

The Godocsik family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Tuesday evening from 5-8:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Heritage Presbyterian Church Food Bank in memory of Josephine.
