Joshua David Mayfield left his temporary home on this earth and stepped into eternity with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sarah Mayfield; mother, Peggy Mayfield; father, David Mayfield; two brothers, Heath (Kathryn) Hays, Trent Hays; grandparents, Roland Mayfield and Lester & Betty Goodwin; one nephew, Seth Hays; three nieces, Brenna, Caroline, and Abbi Hays; aunts and uncles, Patrick (Anita) Mayfield, Jackie (Kennith) Pate, and Robyn (Edward) King; cousins, Brittany Badgwell, Jason Mayfield, Kevin Pate, Scott Pate, and Dustin Pugh; and a host of other extended family and friends. Josh is preceded in death by his grandmother, Dolores Mayfield.

He was a member of Church 29:11 and volunteered for Hope Inspired Ministries. Josh was uniquely gifted by God in ways most people can’t comprehend. His talent and creativity were off the charts.

Best of all he used all of his gifts to serve people and make a difference. He was compassionate, full of life and was always eager to learn new things. He was an amazing husband, son, brother as well as all the other roles he filled.

He had a servant’s heart and loved God with all his heart. His goal in life was to be everything God had purposed him to be. He had a way of lifting burdens and lighting up a room when he walked in.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The New Gardendale Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hope Inspired Ministries, 6523 1st Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35206 in Josh’s Memory.
