Verda Mae Ellard Rhodes “Topsy” passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at age 83. She is survived two children, Grady Rhodes and Robin Rhodes Armstrong; two grandchildren, Chad McCain and Chance (Rachel) Armstrong; one great grandson, Elishua McCain; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Verda was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Westley G. Rhodes, Jr. “Sunny”; her parents, Felix and Doris Ellard; one brother, Earl Ellard; and grandson Guy Randall Armstrong.

She was a member of Fultondale Methodist Church. She retired from Food World after many years of service. She loved people and was loved by all who knew her.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed. Visitation will be Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home. Burial will be at Ellard Cemetery.
