OBITUARY Joyce E Liggin May 5, 1940 – January 2, 2019 Joyce Elaine Liggin, age 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at her home in Kokomo. She was born on May 5, 1940 in Marion, Indiana to the late Aldo Lawrence and Esther Corean (Ward) Pettiford. Joyce graduated from Marion High School in 1958, and then married David Othello Liggin Sr. on October 1, 1960.

David preceded Joyce in passing on February 25, 1983. Joyce worked at Delco Electronics in Kokomo for 32 years before retiring, and then worked at Sam’s Club as a door greeter for 15 years. Joyce was an active member of Mt.

Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Kokomo. In her younger years, she found enjoyment in tending to yardwork and gardening. She also enjoyed playing cards, watching football and basketball games, and watching home design shows and HGTV.

Joyce also had fun by going to casinos, and loved playing the penny slot machines. Joyce is survived by her sons, Aldo Maurice Pettiford of Palm Springs, California, and David Othello (Trina) Liggin Jr. of Sierra Vista, Arizona; daughters, Marcia Liggin, Pamela (Phillip Burks) Liggin, and June Nadine Liggin all of Kokomo; sister, Monaei (McFarren) Wright of Kokomo; grandchildren, Jerry Liggin, Mark Y.N. Pugh II, Constance Pugh, Ian Green, Darion Liggin, Darius Liggin, Arielle Liggin, Peyton Burks, and Phillip Othello Burks; and great grandchildren, Alaysia, Aryana, Ahliyah, Amari, Armani, Xavyn, Marley, Gia, Ja’Kyah, and Jylez. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in passing by her companion, Henry Franklin.

There will be a public visitation for Joyce held at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, January 11th from 10-12, followed immediately by a funeral service. Joyce will then be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
