Obituary for Joyce Huhta Joyce Huhta, 91, a resident of Calumet, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 with her family by her side at the Omega House in Houghton. She was born on June 12, 1927, in Mohawk, to Oscar and Hilda (Raisanen) Mella. She was raised on Bumbletown Hill by her aunt, Mrs. Elma Maki Randa after her mom died young.
She attended grade school at the Allouez School, and then went on to attend Calumet High School. After high school, she moved and worked in Detroit for the Chrysler Company for 7 years, returning to Calumet in 1958 to raise her family. On August 19, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert Huhta at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, which is now presently Faith Lutheran Church, Robert preceded her in death on May 16, 2012.
Joyce was a bowler for a number of years, bowling on various teams. She loved building jigsaw puzzles, watching the Gameshow Channel, and following the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Joyce was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Hilda, brothers, Ernie, Russell, Carl, and Ben; her sister, Verna Thibodeau, granddaughter, Jill Outinen in 1993, and a special sister, Elaine Kallio, and, special brother, George Mackie. She is survived by: 4 daughters: Sande (Mike) Johns of Traprock Valley Carol (Charlie) Kolka of Clarkston, MI Susie (Mike) Gasperich of Green Bay, WI Sherry (Steve) Outinen of Ahmeek 9 grandchildren: Kristyn (Jay) Keranen of Laurium, Ryan (Stephanie) Johns of Houghton, Sarah (Steve) Barber of Buffalo, New York, Addie (Bryan) Miller of Traprock, Rob and Tim Kolka of Clarkston, MI Heather (Bob) Manning of Green Bay, WI, Danielle (Scott) Hoida of Green Bay, WI and Kevin (Kim) Outinen of Midland, MI 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, several cousins, and her childhood friend, Eva Paulson Funeral services will be held at _1:00 pm on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Keranen to officiate. Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet, from 11:00 am until the service time on Monday, July 2, 2018.
