Stevensville – Joyce McConaha passed away on July 8, 2018 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 87 years old. Joyce was born in Great Falls June 18, 1931 to Joseph Tokarski and Dorothy (Thayer) Tokarski.

She spent the first ten years of her life in Missoula. After moving several times during her teen years she returned to Missoula. She met Earl McConaha while working at the Wilma Theater.

They married on December 29, 1948. Joyce and Earl traveled extensively while Earl served for 20 years in the Army. They continued to travel after Earl retired.

Upon retirement they moved back to their home state of Montana. She started painting after retiring, learning from a correspondence course. She belonged to a couple of painting groups and enjoyed teaching others if asked.

Joyce was a prolific painter and quilter. She enjoyed any kind of handwork, gardening and genealogy. She was a member of the DAR.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Joe Tokarski, Dorothy Handley and Brother Joe Tokarski. She is survived by her husband of 69 years Earl McConaha, daughter Vonnie (John), son David, daughter Jenny (Dan), brother Bob (Beth), sisters Karen and Joann, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held in Stevensville on Sunday July 15th.

A reception for family and friends will be held at The American Legion Post #94 at 754 Middle Burnt Fork Rd. , Stevensville, Mt at 11:30 AM on July 15th, 2018. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Legion Post #94, or The Wounded Warrior Project.
