Obituary for Juanita Fortune JUANITA WILLIAMS FORTUNE 1927 – 2018 “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them”. Psalms 119:165 Mother Juanita Williams Fortune, 90, passed away peacefully at home in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Sunday, May 6, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Mother Fortune began life on July 12, 1927 in Winston Salem, N.C.

She was the fifth child of eight born to Bishop W. D. and Flossie T. Williams. Her mother died when she was twelve. This lost made a tremendous impact on the remainder of her life.

She wonderfully dedicated much of her time to serving and caring for the sick, elderly, home-bound and the forgotten. Great love found her at last! In Florence, S.C. she met and married her sweet loving husband, Herbert Fortune, Jr. To their union were born Carol Faye, Vicky Lynn, Wanda Gail, and Herbert David.

Thanks to the US Army, the family traveled extensively. Mother Fortune created a warm and gracious home for the family wherever they found themselves. Her devoted support enabled Command Sargent Major Fortune to dutifully serve our country for 30 years.

Mother Fortune was a loving wife, caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Mother Fortune truly loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She diligently read her Bible in its entirety over six times.

She made every effort to live the Word! Mother Fortune was a longstanding member of two organizations, the Progressive Church of Jesus and the PAW. She faithfully served many years as First Lady at the Headquarters Progressive Church of Jesus in Florence, SC.

In her later years she was a member of Pentecostal Bridegroom Temple, Philadelphia, PA; and finally, New Grace Apostolic Temple, Ann Arbor, MI. Mother Fortune is survived by her children Evangelist Carol F. Hollis, Sister Wanda G. Cobb, and Elder Herbert David Fortune (Maria); grandchildren M. Anthony (Suzette), Ian Cobb (Kristina), Christa A., Danielle A., Noel A., Maxwell D. (Chantel); brothers Bishop Randolph Williams, Elder James Williams; and a host of loving relatives.
