Obituary for Juanita Johnkins Juanita Ferguson Johnkins, age 76, transitioned from this life on April 22, 2018 at Sweetwater Hospital, Sweetwater, Tn. She was the daughter of the late Frank Leon and Alice Hanks Ferguson. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Alice and Helene and four brothers, Charles, Arthur, Clarence , Don, William Howard Ferguson.
Juanita attended High Point High School in Sweetwater, Tn. She devoted her life to being a wife and mother to nine children, including six daughters and three sons. “Momma” has been a devoted grandmother to 32 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
She impacted many strangers, friends, and family. Many in the community knew her home as a place to go and were always welcomed as part of the family. She earned the love and respect of so many who cherished her kindness and generosity.
Survivors include: John Johnkins, husband of 55 years, six daughters, Lori Johnkins, Michelle Johnkins, Sonya (Benny) Fain, Sabrina Johnkins , Brandy (Cornelieus “CJ”) Black (Sweetwater, Tn. ) Pamela (Joseph) Smith (Atlanta, Ga) and three sons Gary “Duke” Johnkins, Nicholas “Nick” (Candice) Johnkins (Sweetwater, Tn. ) Christopher “Scotty” Johnkins (Atlanta, Ga).
One brother, James Alvin Ferguson and two sisters Joanne Fike and Mary Brownlee, Sweetwater, Tn. Sisters-in-Law Loretta Ferguson, Bonita (Ferguson) Smith, Athens, Tn. Brother-in-law Jerome (Odean) Johnkins, Sisters-in-Laws Lucy Brown, Josephine Johnkins, and Tabitha Smith, all of Athens, Tn.
Special devoted friend and sister-in-law Naomi Johnkins, and special friend and Cousin Sandra Hawkins; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, Tn. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 29, 2018 1:00-3:00 p.m., funeral services to immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. The Reverend Terry Lynn Jordan, Alcoa, Tennessee will be officiating.
