OBITUARY Judith Hope Taylor Wooten March 24, 1943 – August 24, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Judith “Judy” Hope Taylor Wooten of Circle Island Drive, Dunn, departed this life on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Wake Med in Raleigh, being 75 years of age. She was born on March 24, 1943 in Harnett County, North Carolina to the late Reuben Thomas Taylor and the late Margaret Blackmon Taylor. She is also preceded in death by her brother Charles Taylor and her sister Jeanette T. Strickland.
Judy was a believer in the Baptist faith and had been a lifelong member of the East Erwin Baptist Church, she loved her Lord and savior dearly. Her family was her life, she devoted all that she had to them. She had been a single mother and had raised her six children on her own.
Although, she was a single mother working hard to make ends meet, she never neglected to ensure that her children had everything that they needed. They also had most of what they wanted and they never knew what it felt like to be unwanted, as the love she gave to them surpassed anything that any amount of money could buy. She worked at Burlington Industries for over 15 years, she had been a dietician at the Charles Parrish Nursing Faculty, and she also worked for Carolina Wood Turners.
She loved being outdoors; working in her garden and having family cookouts. The occasions when her children were all with her together were some of her most treasured times. She also enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, playing pool, listening to beach music and shagging.
Many of her summers were spent at White Lake with her family. She had been a wonderful cook; baking was one of her favorite things to do in the kitchen and she was known especially for her sweet potato pie. Judy didn’t have it in her to “give up”, she was a cancer survivor and had battled many other illness throughout her life with courage.
She was always kind toward others, never meeting a strange. If Judy called you her friend then you had made a friend for life. She loved her life and always kept a positive attitude.
If she was facing a storm, you wouldn’t have known, because a frown never crossed her lips. She always said “If I wake up tomorrow it will be a good day and if I don’t it will still be a good day”. Judy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend; the pages of her life that she leaves behind speak for themselves.
Judy leaves behind to chersh her memory her two daughters: Katherine Jo McCorquodale Sabol and husband Andrew of Lawton, OK, Sharon Gail McCorquodale Jernigan and husband Bryan of Smithfield; four sons: Reuben Scott McCorquodale and wife Tina of Erwin, Kenneth Wayne McCorquodale of Sulfer Springs, TX, Ronnie Keith McCorquodale of Waynesville, NC, and Jeffrey Lee McCorquodale and wife Kellie of Phoenix, AZ; Five Grandchildren: Christopher Bryan Jernigan and wife Amanda of Smithfield, Joseph Scott “Scottie” McCorquodale of Erwin, Joshua McCorquodale of Erwin, Jonathan Sabol of Lawton, OK and Stephanie Sabol of Lawton, OK; Four Great-Grandchildren: Bryanna Raye Jernigan, Morgan Elizabeth Jernigan, Abbigayle Nicole Jernigan and Audrey Skye McCorquodale; Three Honorary Grandchildren: Brittany, Colby and Aaron and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
