Dublin native Jule Blount Greene died on Monday, November 19, 2018, at an assisted living facility in Macon. Mr. Greene, the son of the late Judge Julian Greene and Elizabeth (Bette) O’Neal Greene, was born August 15, 1922. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, George Bradley Williams Greene; a son who died in early childhood, Jule Blount Greene, Jr.; and a brother, James Thomas Greene.

Following graduation from Dublin High School, he worked for Armour and Company in Jacksonville, Florida. After serving in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, he earned undergraduate and law degrees from Mercer University. While at Mercer, he was a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Blue Key Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Alpha Order.

Mr. Greene was admitted to the Georgia Bar while still in law school. After interning with a Macon law firm for two years, he became a partner in the Schreiber and Greene Law Firm in Waycross. He left to embark on a 30-year distinguished career with the US Securities & Exchange Commission, in Washington D.C., Miami and Atlanta, where he retired as Regional Administrator of the Southeast region.

After retirement from the SEC, he served for eleven years as Southeast Regional counsel for the National Association of Securities Dealers. He and Mrs. Greene, also a Dublin native, returned to Dublin in 1989 where they attended the First Methodist Church. He continued to practice law for several more years and served as a New York Stock Exchange arbitrator through 2001.

He was a longtime member of Rotary International and an accomplished bridge player, playing in the Dublin, Macon, McRae and Warner Robins Duplicate Bridge Clubs and earning the rank of Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. During his final eleven years, Mr. Greene lived at Carlyle Place in Macon, where he made many new friends, renewed past friendships, and maintained his relationships in Dublin. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law James Herschel Greene (Melanie) of Oxford, Georgia and Bradley O. Greene (Colette) of Burlingame, California; and his cherished granddaughters Elizabeth Greene Beecher, Kathleen Greene Staples, Samantha Greene and Madeleine Greene.

Mr. Greene will be interred at Northview Cemetery in Dublin. Burial will be private. Gifts in his memory may be made to Mercer University or the charity of one’s choice.
