Obituary for Julia McKinney Wharton Mrs. Wharton, 81, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in Olive Branch, MS. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home (6815 Parkview Blvd. , Olive Branch).
A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Memphis Memory Gardens (6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN 38134). Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wharton was born on June 23, 1937, in West Memphis, AR, but has called Desoto County home for many years. Mrs. Wharton enjoyed many things such as the “Golden Girls,” church, traveling (cruises), and was a huge animal lover. Since her religion played an important part of her life, she was also a proud and faithful member of the Bible Study Fellowship (community group) and the United Methodist Women’s organization.
Mrs. Wharton loved her family more than anything, she cherished all the memories she has made with her loving family and friends. Mrs. Wharton will truly be missed by those closest to her. Mrs. Wharton is survived by four sons, David Wharton of Olive Branch, Bobby (Kay) Wharton of Nesbit, MS, Billy (Carla) Wharton of Pine Bluff, AR, and Eddie (Dean) Wharton of Oakland, TN; daughter, Joyce Moore of Southaven, MS; nephew, Steven (Charlette) of Bartlett, TN; and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Wharton was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Wharton; parents, Mack and Mary McKinney; and sister, Jane Bledsoe. Donations and memorials in honor of Mrs. Wharton may be made to Hernando United Methodist Church (1890 Mt Pleasant Rd, Hernando, MS 38632) or to the Alzheimer’s Association (www. alz.org).
