J.W.’s Obituary Master Sergeant J.W. Casto of the United States Marine Corps passed away from this life on February 22, 2019 in Emmet, Arkansas at the age of 85. J.W. will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Linda, his brother, R.B. and Venetia Casto, and his children: Mike and Nancy Casto, Debra and Roger White, James Dean and Lisa Casto, Kimberly Jean and Edward Wilson, David Casto, Jacob Casto and Lisa Marie, Tisha Casto and Stacey Evans, and Danny and Krysta Casto. He will also be missed by his 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

J.W. is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ethel Blasengame Casto, Essie Sterling, Beady Cathey, Wallace Casto, Dorothy Irwin, Kayla Casto, Korey Evans, and Brysen Evans. Born on August 26, 1933 in McRay, Arkansas, J.W. grew up in Jacksonville and Little Rock. On March 17, 1953, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country proudly while in Korea, Vietnam, and Cuba.

He acquired numerous awards and medals during his tenure in the armed forces. After 20 years of service, J.W. retired as a Master Sergeant, but he continued to live his life according to the Marine Corps motto, “Semper Fidelis”. J.W. married Linda White on February 23, 1980 in Emmet, Arkansas, where the two settled and grew their lives together.

He spent his time tending to his horse, watching Nascar and Fox News, hunting, and enjoying a nice margarita. He wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, and those that knew him best will remember his famous catchphrase, “Well, I’ll be…” Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Prescott, Arkansas. Services will be on Wednesday, February 27 at 10 a.m. at New Liberty Baptist Church in Emmet, Arkansas.
