Leola’s Obituary Funeral services for Leola Dillard Goss, 97, of Deer Park, TX, are scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, February 17, 2019, at South Fork Baptist Church with Bro. David Graves officiating. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery, Gurdon, AR.

Leola went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 15, 2019. She was born on May 3, 1921 in Gurdon, AR, to the late Will and Willis Dillard. At the age of 12, Leola trusted Christ as her Savior.

She was a graduate of Gurdon High School and Baptist Memorial School of Nursing in Memphis, TN. After graduating from nursing school, Leola enlisted in the Army. When her service was complete, she moved to Hope, AR, and worked at the hospital.

This is where she met her future husband, Armon Goss. After they were married, their travels took them to the oil fields. Armon was a rough neck at this time.

They finally ended up in Deer Park, TX in 1961. Leola worked private duty downtown Houston for several years, until she got a job at Pasadena General. She worked there until 1978, when Leola and Armon bought a place in Big Sandy, TX with their eldest son David.

They lived there until Leola moved in with her daughter Nancy in October 2015. Leola was visiting her son David at the time of her death. Leola is survived by her children William David Goss, Nancy Kay Goss and Armon Alan Goss; her grandchildren Michelle Knowlton, David Wayne Goss, Vanessa Griffin, Amanda Plum, Jeffrey Goss and Kyle Dyess; her great-grandchildren Chelsey Miller, Paige Knowlton, Austin Goss, Ashley Goss, Mason Griffin, Presley Griffin, Caleb Plum and Aubrey Plum and her great-great-grandchild Cameron Miller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Armon; her five brothers; her sister and her grandson John Lee Hay. Pallbearers will be Chad Dillard, Jeff Dillard, Ethan Widaman, Mason Griffin, Michael Dillard and Michael Knight. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm Sunday, February 17, 2019, at South Fork Baptist Church, Gurdon, AR.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to South Fork Cemetery Fund, 148 McMillan Road, Gurdon, AR 71743.
