Obituary for Karen Lee Kurtt Des Moines – Karen Lee Kurtt, age 74, formerly of Tama and Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 28, at HCI Care Services Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. She was born February 10, 1944, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of John and Rosemary (Phelan) Britt. She graduated from Janesville High School.

Karen worked as a receptionist and history book coordinator for the Tama News Herald newspaper. She was active in PEO in Tama and the Women’s Club of Tama/Toledo. Survived by: two sons, Tony (Miranda) of West Des Moines and Chris (Tricia) of Norwalk; a daughter, Betsey (Dave) Shewell of Milan, IL; grandchildren, Alex and Brady Kurtt, Katy and Will Reeves and Tyler, Katherine, and Jessica Shewell; three brothers, John David (Beverly) Britt of Waterloo, Paul (Donna) Britt of Janesville, and Tom Britt of Janesville; two sisters, Mary Jane (George) Hursh of Cedar Falls, and Rebecca Britt of Waterloo.

Preceded in Death by: a niece, Emily Carlson Funeral services will be 2pm Wednesday, May 2, at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with visitation from noon-2pm at the church. Inurnment will be 11am Friday, May 4 at Washington Chapel Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the family.
