Karen Bontrager, 65, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Nary Cemetery. A potluck luncheon will follow at the Nary Town Hall.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Karen Marie Bontrager was born September 22, 1952 in Virginia, MN to George and Irma (Himmelright) Loeffler. She attended a one room Meadowview School in Becida.

Karen spent most of her childhood in Becida. She moved to Clearwater, FL in her early teens and moved back to Bemidji to start a family. Karen enjoyed vegetable and floral gardening, loved animals and spending time with family.

She is survived by daughter, Dawn (Brett) Wheeler of Bemidji; sons, Mark (Micheale) Grotberg of Bemidji, Eric (Bibi) Grotberg of The Woodlands, TX and Chad (Teresa) Clement of Wilton; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cheryl Baker of Barnesville, Elaine (David) Dunbar of St. Paul and Tracy Smith of Bemidji and brothers, Terry (Debbie) Loeffler of Alexandria, Darwin (Marilyn) Loeffler of Buhl and Ivan Loeffler of Bemidji. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Darren “Maverick” Grotberg and sister, Diane Loeffler. Online guestbook at www.
