Obituary for Karl M. Zilka Karl M. Zilka, age 68 of Lorain, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, following a lengthy illness. Born August 13, 1950 in Elyria, he was a life long resident Lorain. Karl graduated from Lorain Admiral King in 1968 and attended Lorain County Community College and Ohio State University.

For 27 years, Karl worked as a steelworker, retiring from Lorain Works US Steel in 2008. He was a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a member of United Steel Workers Union Local 110. Karl enjoyed cooking.

Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Catherine (nee Miller); a son, Gabriel of Amherst; a daughter, Sarah (Michael) Zilka-Starke of Lakewood; and his grandchildren, Linus and Emaruth. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael in 1984 and his mother, Mary Ann (nee Kasper) Zilka in 2016. Private services were held.
