Kathleen’s Obituary Kathleen (Kitty) Ann Smith, 62, of Six Mile, Texas passed away at home on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 after a long illness. Kitty was born May 28, 1956 in Marietta, Georgia to Myles Stephen Boothe of Providence, Rhode Island and Julia Ann Temelini of Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Kitty graduated from Marietta High School in 1973, Spring Hill College, Mobile, Alabama in 1978, and Oglethorpe University in 1980 with a master’s degree in elementary education.

She taught school for several years before working for as a geological technician for Gulf and Chevron Oil companies in Houston. Kitty spent most of her life being a loving wife to a career Army dentist. She accompanied him on numerous overseas and stateside assignments before settling down at her “paradise” on Lake Toledo Bend upon his retirement.

She loved her God, her husband, her two children, her mother, father, nine brothers and sisters and her three cats. She enjoyed participating in all types of sports, travel, and the outdoors. She had a passion for basketball which she played both in college and on other teams after college.

She was an avid runner, placing at the top in numerous 10k and relay races. Later she took up the sports of mountain bike riding, entering races organized by Army recreation in Germany, and cross-country skiing. At home she took up gardening (digging holes in the ground for plants), doing Suduko puzzles, and lap swimming.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Dr. David G. Smith, COL, USA, Retired, of nearly 37 years; daughter CPT Olivia Borman and her husband, Peter Borman; son, SPC Glenn Smith; her sisters, Bonnie Lee Hicks, Michele Lynn Kent, Andrea Boothe Hahn, and Julia Boothe Phillips; her brothers, Stephen Carter Boothe Jr., Remer Gregory Boothe, G.A. Sam Boothe, and Capt. Myles S. “Chip” Boothe, USCG, Ret. She will be missed by an extended family, a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

We would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Brooke Army Medical Center for their years of care and Affinity Hospice nurses, Bennita, Saylor, and Amanda. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials in lieu of flowers, consider donating to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Starr Funeral Home of Hemphill, Texas.
