Kathleen E. Hallberg-Twinam, age 57, of Crystal Lake, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. She was born on December 6, 1960 in Elgin, IL to Richard and Loxandra (Vadic) Hallberg. On July 27, 2012, Kathie married her lifelong friend, Samuel D. Twinam in McHenry.

Kathie considered her and her friends as “River People”, ready to jump on the boat and ride off at any given time. She enjoyed boating on the river, camping, and the great outdoors in general. Kathie… Read More » was an avid dog lover, and owned several dogs in her lifetime, including their recent rescue, Rosie.

She also had a passion for cooking delicious dishes for friends and family. Kathie was a valued employee for 30 years with Jewel-Osco, most recently of Fox River Grove. Above all, Kathie had an everlasting devotion to her daughter, her “Miss America”, Shaina.

They had a great love for each other, and was always there for one another through, thick and thin. Kathie adored her family, especially her grandsons, Jackson and Nolan, who affectionately called her “Grandma Curly”. She was a caring wife, loving mother, doting grandma, fond sister, and dear friend to many, and will remain forever in their hearts.

Kathie is survived by her devoted husband, Sam Twinam; her loving daughter, Shaina (Brian) Maier; two stepsons, Steven (Katie) Twinam, Michael Twinam; two grandsons, Jackson, Nolan; three brothers, Karl (Nancy) Hallberg, Kenny Hallberg, Kurt Hallberg; and her niece and nephew, Samantha and Kyle Hallberg. In addition to her parents, Kathie was preceded in death by her nephew, Joshua Meehan. Friends may gather from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.

The Celebration of Life Service will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
