Marie L. McQuillin, age 96, of Wonder Lake, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at JourneyCare of Woodstock. She was born July 2, 1921 in Chicago to Bernard and Marie E. (Lamberty) Voegtle. On November 6, 1943, Marie married the love of her life, Patrick D. McQuillin in Chicago.

Formerly of Homewood, Marie has been a resident of the Wonder Lake area for over 45 years. She was an accomplished pianist for over 80 years who taught at the Chicago Conservatory and from home to hundreds… Read More » of pupils over the years. Marie used her talents to uplift the parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Homewood and at Christ the King in Wonder Lake.

She was also a member of The Blessed Virgin Mary Ladies Sodality of Christ the King, and was honored with The Woman of Inspiration Award in 2007 for her extraordinary example of virtue and service. Marie was an avid fan of fishing, loved gardening, flowers, and feeding wild birds. She was a wonderful mother, caring grandmother, doting great-grandmother, who will forever remain in their hearts.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Michele (Karl) Weisenberger of Wonder Lake, Patti (Michael) Przybyla of Frankfort, Steven (Deborah) McQuillin of Mukwonago, WI, Leslie (Martin) Nuss of McHenry; ten grandchildren, Jenna (Sidney) Strombach, Eileen (David) Sussland, Lydia (Spencer) Pope, Kimberly (Mark) Lask, Stephen (Tara) McQuillin, Michael (Megan) McQuillin, Katie (Brandon) Tushkowski, Jon (Samantha) Nuss, Anthony (Katie) Nuss, Robert Nuss; and nineteen great-grandchildren, William, Andrew, Jacob, Trevor, Ethan, Ian, Maya, Emily, Owen, Olivia, Isla, Samuel, Ayden, Corbin, Waverly, Logan, Aubrey, Olin, and Ryder. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick on April 4, 2013; two sisters, Katherine Dottenwhy, Margaret Hernbroth; and two brothers, Joseph Voegtle, and Bernard Voegtle. Visitation will be Monday, July 2, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.

Closing prayers will be at 11:15 a.m. then follow in procession for the 12:00 p.m. Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5006 E. Wonder Lake Road, Wonder Lake, IL 60097.
