Matthew R. Lossmann, age 31, of McHenry, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. He was born February 17, 1987 in Barrington to George and Maureen (O’Brien) Lossmann. Matthew attended Parkland Middle School and graduated from McHenry High School-West Campus.

An inspiration to all around him, he kept a positive outlook on life while he battled Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He enjoyed visiting with his friends, going to car shows, admiring fast… Read More » cars, taking boat rides, and the companionship of his friends, Harry I and Harry II, and his Great Pyrenees, Finnigan. Matthew is survived by his loving parents, George and Maureen Lossmann.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael on April 22, 2010; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothy O’Brien, his paternal grandparents, Elmo and Shirley Lossmann; and his aunt, Janice Lossmann. Friends and neighbors may gather from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Interment will be private in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside. Matthew’s family suggests memorials to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O.Box 78960, Phoenix, AZ 85062, or to PPMD (Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy), 158 Linwood Plaza, Ste. 220, Ft.

Lee, NY 07024.
