Obituary for Kathleen “Kathy” Lanthier Kathleen E. “Kathy” Lanthier, 84, of Niagara, passed suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. Kathy was born July 27, 1934 in Green Bay, WI to the late Leonard and Teresa (Blotz) Koehler.

She was raised on a farm outside Hilbert, WI, along with seven brothers and sisters, the oldest of whom passed away as a child when Kathy was six years old. Kathy attended school in Hilbert and graduated from Hilbert High School in 1952. She later attended Holy Family School of Nursing in Manitowoc, WI where she received her nursing degree in 1955.

After a few years she moved to the Iron Mountain area where she was employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain as a nurse. She began working at Maryhill Manor in Niagara as a nurse in 1969. She retired from Maryhill after 32 years, but later returned to work there for several years on a part-time basis.

She was married to Franklin Lanthier on June 14, 1958 and together they had seven children. She will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, and love for her family. For many years she held family dinners at her home every Sunday.

She was known for her meat pies, pasties, chicken, meatloaf, sweet bread and poppy seed breads. She loved watching sporting events and going to eat at her favorite restaurant, A&W in Iron Mountain. She had a very strong faith in God and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara for many years.

She attended services at Maryhill Manor where she was a resident for the past two years. Kathy is survived by her children, Mark (Tammie) Lanthier of Niagara, Michael Lanthier of Quinnesec, Marguerite “Maggie” Lanthier of Niagara, Carol (Dale Warren) Uren of Kingsford, Donald “D.J.” (Julie) Lanthier of Kingsford, Nancy (Chuck) Pellegrini of Norway and Thomas Lanthier of Iron Mountain; two brothers, Paul (Ann) Koehler of DePere, Wis. and Vincent (Lois) Koehler of South Milwaukee, Wis.

; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Koehler of Appleton, Wis. ; brother-in-law, Joseph Lanthier of Port Washington, Wis. ; her ex-husband, Franklin Lanthier; a daughter-in-law, DeeDee Lanthier; nine grandchildren, Bethani (Brad) Champagne, Simone (Tony) Rossato, Alexander Lanthier, Brian Lanthier, Joseph Uren, Mathew Lanthier, Vanessa Lanthier, Justin Lanthier, and Jonathan Lanthier; honorary granddaughters, Carmen Hoyer and Lovisa Alenmerck; great-grandchildren, Parker and Aria Rossato, Cole Lanthier and Kaya Champagne.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Urban and Robert Koehler; two sisters, Marguerite and Dolores Koehler; two sisters-in-law, Flora Mae (Lanthier) Howley and LaVaughn Lanthier; and one brother-in-law, Donald Howley. Kathy was well liked by everyone who knew her and she will be sadly missed by all.

Visitation will be at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Niagara, WI on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. offered by Fr. Michael Lightner. Condolences to the family of Kathleen E. Lanthier may be expressed online at www.
