Canfield – A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2018 at Saint Charles Church in Boardman, celebrated by Rev. Philip Rogers for Kathleen Shutrump, 77, who passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018. Kathleen was born August 8, 1941, in Youngstown, a daughter of Gene and Margaret Mary Clemens Murphy and married Robert J. Shutrump on July 10, 1965.

He passed away in 2005. She was a graduate of Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing and Youngstown State University as an RN. Kathleen taught nursing at St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, Youngstown State University and Woodside Receiving Hospital.

She was a past president of Ohio Nurses Association District #3, and worked at Woodside Receiving Hospital, retiring as Director of Nursing after over 25 years when the hospital closed in 1996. Kathleen was also a 25-year member of Sweet Adelines International, most recently singing with Spirit of the Valley Chords. A life-time member of St. Charles Church, she was a part of their Resurrection Choir.

Kathleen is survived by her cousin Sally Murphy Pallante and two close friends Carol Olson and Barbara Yates. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert. Friends and family may call from 10 to 10:50 am on Monday at the church.

Material donations may be made in her memory to Cardinal Mooney High School, 2545 Erie Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44507. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit www.
