Kathryn J Yarmey, January 16, 1926 — January 28, 2019

Mrs. Kathryn J. Yarmey, 93, of Pittsfield, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at home. Born in Pittsfield on January 16, 1926, the daughter of John H. and Helena G. Skiffington Greene, she was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Kathryn worked for many years as an accountant at General Electric in Pittsfield.

She had also worked as an accountant for her husband’s window cleaning Company and for her brother-in-law at the former Nagelschmidt’s Market before retiring to take care of her family. She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church where she volunteered and was a member of the Rosary Sodality. Kathryn was past President of the Berkshire Fly Fishing Club and volunteered at RSVP.

She enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center, going out to lunch with friends and watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She especially loved spending time with her children and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Yarmey was predeceased by her husband, John Yarmey, whom she married on November 22, 1951 at St. Mark’s Church.

He passed away on July 29, 2009. She is survived by her children, James H. Yarmey, and his wife, Linda, of Hinsdale; Patricia A. Smith of Pittsfield, Gale Rocca of Clearwater, FL, and Mary Beth Prozinski and her husband, Steve, of Ashland, MA; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mrs. Yarmey was also predeceased by a son, Richard J. Yarmey; a sister, M. Shirley Nagelschmidt; a brother, William Greene and a son-in-law, Gary Rocca.

Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn J. Yarmey will be Thursday, January 31, 2019 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. Michael Bernier, Pastor. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Calling hours at the Dwyer Funeral Home will be Wednesday evening, January 30, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 in her memory.
