Mrs. Kathy Morgan Norman, age 58, of Marion, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Kathy was a daughter of the late J. C. Morgan and Ruby Jamison Morgan and was born in Marion October 14, 1960. A lifetime member of the Racking Horse Breeders Association of America, her love of horses and in fact all animals was well-known.

She was a long-time member of both the McDowell Saddle and Bridle Club and the McDowell County Agricultural Youth Foundation (through the 4H Youth Development of McDowell). Kathy held numerous positions with these organizations and was instrumental in encouraging and shaping the lives of many youngsters over the years. Known as “555” by those close to her, her kind and generous nature won her many true friends and her influence with young people will be long remembered.

Kathy was an avid hunter and loved to fish. Left to remember her are her loving husband of 10 years, Wes Norman; two step-daughters, Tracy Oliver and husband, Darrin and Lesley Norman, all of Morganton; a sister, Diane Morgan Frisbee and husband, John of Glenwood; a niece, who was like a daughter to her, Becky Deyton and husband, Brice and their daughter Bre of Glenwood; three grandchildren, Sisalynn and Shaunna Norman and Lucas Oliver; and her beloved canine friend, Toby. A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Darvy Hensley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. Flowers are appreciated, however, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in her memory are encouraged to consider the Levine Cancer Center at www.
