Kay’s Obituary Roberta “Kay “Bennett, 78, of Hedgesville, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Hospice of the Panhandle, Kearneysville, WV. Born October 9, 1940 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Robert William and Evelyn Marie (Morgan) Fouche. Kay was a 1958 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

She retired in 2001 from the Washington County Health Dept. after 28 years of service. She also worked as a waitress at the Airport Inn in Hagerstown and the Old Pharmacy Cafe in Shepherdstown, WV.

Kay enjoyed traveling with her friends; especially on their trips to the Outer Banks, Maine, and Black Water Falls. She also enjoyed riding on motorcycles. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, Gregory A. Shifflet; a great-granddaughter, Raina Coles; and her best friend, Christine Stenger.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Tammy Nelson and husband Keith; two sons, William “Bill” Shifflet, II and fiancé Lauren, Anthony “Todd” Shifflet; four grandchildren, Logan, Thomas, Kierra, and Alec; four great-granddaughters, Lily, A’Veyanna, Malaiya, and Alaina; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. , Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be private in Rest Haven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of the Panhandle, 320 Hospice Lane, Kearnysville, WV 25430.
