Our loving husband, dad and grandpa, Keith Jesse Hemming, 85, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Keith was born September 30, 1933 in the Henefer family home. Born to Jesse Mardell and Mabel Charlotte Jones Hemming.

He was the oldest of six children. Raised in Morgan, Utah on the family farm. After losing his father at the age of 13 he took over caring for his family and the farm.

He attended Morgan schools and graduated from Morgan High School in 1951. He served his country from 1955 – 1961 in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. This is where he learned the art of servicing and handling military firearms.

He was a member of the Morgan Jeep Search and Rescue. Working at the Ogden Arsenal from 1952 – 1954 and Hill AFB as a civil police officer for 40 years. After retiring, he worked 13 years at Utah Auto Auctions driving cars, which he enjoyed.

He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and a Boy Scouts Ranger Explorer. He married the love of his life, Ivy Dahle on June 1, 1966 in the Logan Temple. They shared 53 years together.

Mom was everything to Dad. He loved her immensely and cared for her every need. His love and admiration for her was obvious to those around them.

They raised three children in Morgan and Clearfield. They lost their 2nd son shortly after birth. Keith had many hobbies and talents of gardening, hunting, fishing, bowling, playing checkers, coin collecting, firearms and reloading, genealogy and family history.

He was proud to be of pioneer heritage and had a great love of his country. He loved teaching his children and grandchildren to work hard. His joy was fulfilled watching his family grow and succeed.

He had a sense of humor which he shared with everyone he met. Keith lived his life serving others in various capacities and callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in the community. He blessed the lives of his family and friends in immeasurable time and ways.

He truly left a legacy of love and accomplishment. He is survived by his wife, Ivy Hemming; son, Jesse Wayne Hemming; daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Nelson, Janalynn (Jay) Hemming-Sharkey; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Tom (Del) Hemming and three sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, and infant son, Michael Keith Hemming.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clearfield 7th Ward Chapel, 231 E. 300 N., Clearfield. Friends may visit family Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Morgan South Cemetery. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Stephanie Olsen and staff, Dr. Casey Stelter and Legacy Hospice staff, with special attention and love from Korie and Tiki. Your service and love was felt at every visit by Keith, Ivy and his family.
