Kenneth Lee Lomax (Kenny) returned to his Father in Heaven on February 15, 2019. This journey resulted from pneumonia which took a final toll after a long struggle with rheumatoid arthritis. Born July 31, 1947 to DeOn Bills and Elmo William Lomax, Ken was raised in Clinton, Utah.

He retains many friends from his years at Clearfield High School. Especially dear to his heart were friends, Jan and Roger, and memories of time playing together in their band. Ken served his country in the Army Reserve and the Utah National Guard.

He served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Germany South Mission. His experiences there kindled a love for that country and its people. He was sealed in the Oakland Temple to Laile Hallows on August 26, 1970 and graduated from Brigham Young University.

He lived with Rheumatoid Arthritis for over 40 years, but it never dampened his love for the gospel or his willingness to serve. He served in many capacities in the Church: teacher, scout leader, a member of 5 different bishoprics and as bishop of the Holmes Creek Stake singles ward. Ken has a strong and devoted testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He recently wrote, “I have many Book of Mormon scriptures that have great meaning to me. The one that gave me a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon is Moroni 10:4-5. It gave me direction to follow.

It will do the same for all who follow what it says. I hope every one of my grandchildren will gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon”. Ken was known for his love of playing the guitar.

He was self-taught and had an amazing and beautiful skill at picking. He enjoyed photography, reading history books, and the outdoors. He raised his four children on camping trips to Granite Hot Springs in Wyoming.

Surviving Ken are his wife of 49 years and their four children: Kael Courteney Brown (Matthew), Grantsville; Jeff (Shelley), Layton; Mike (Melinda), Kaysville; and Landon (Chantel), Syracuse; also 14 beautiful grandchildren, brothers Dave (Sharlene) and Larry (Pam), and sister, KayLynn Lomax Hover. Preceding him in death are his parents, brother, Howard, and sister, Sharon Hansen. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rosewood Ward Chapel, 125 Chapel Street, Layton, Utah.

Friends may visit with family Friday, February 22, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. The family would like to thank the care givers at Thatcher Brook Care Center and McKay-Dee Hospital for their kind and loving attention given to Ken. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
