Obituary for Kenneth Leonard Williams Kenneth Leonard Williams, age 86, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, as a result of a fall. Kenneth was born in Elizabethton on December 17, 1931 to the late Clyde Williams, Sr and Flossie Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Kate (Katie) Stout Williams; a sister, Nona (Sue) Williams; and a brother, Clyde Williams, Jr. Kenneth was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict.
He retired from the Tennessee Department of Human Services, where he had served as Regional Director. He had worked as a crew member of several movie and television shows. Kenneth had played fast pitch softball for several local teams for many years and was an avid sports fan and western film buff.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Johnson City, Tennessee and had presently attended services at the Cypress Village Retirement Community in Florida. Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Debra Harvey and Barbara Harris, both of Jacksonville, FL; a son-in-law, Chris Harris, also of Jacksonville; a granddaughter, Amanda Harvey and husband Aaron Yampolski and two great grandchildren, Emma Katherine (Katie) and Lucas Yampolski, all of Los Angeles, CA; and a brother, Gary Williams, of Elizabethton. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will received friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. A graveside service to honor the life of Kenneth Leonard Williams will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Ron Murray, officiating.
Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM on Wednesday. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Neal Patel and the ICU staff of the Mayo Clinic for their kindness and professionalism.
