Obituary of Kenneth Kilburn Kenneth M. Kilburn, 92, of Memory Garden, 560 Fairmount Ave. Jamestown, NY, formerly of Brookdale of Lakewood, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019, in UPMC Chautauqua, with family by his side. He was born June 5, 1926 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Roydon Kenneth and Mary Towne Kilburn.

Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1944-1946. He was a 1944 graduate of Kenmore High School and a 1950 graduate of Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. Before his retirement, he was employed for 36 years by Alltel, Inc. working as a staff engineer.

He worked in several locations for Alltel including overseas in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. He was a member of the Zion Covenant Church, the Lakewood Kiwanis Club, the American Scandinavian Heritage Foundation and a former member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Meadville, PA Rotary Club. He also spent many hours volunteering his time for WCA Hospital, Chautauqua County Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the American Red Cross Disaster Team, where he volunteered on 14 disaster missions.

in 1996, he was chosen and participated in the Summer Olympics Torch Run which came through Chautauqua County. In 2006, he was awarded The Axel W. Carlson Award through the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. Surviving are his five children; Larry A. (Kay) Kilburn of Arcade, NY, Janice E. Kilburn (Stephen Kresovich) of Greenville, SC, Ronald L. (Susan) Kilburn of Meadville, PA, Thomas M. (Diane) Kilburn of Westfield, NY, Steven D. (Jennifer) Kilburn of Jamestown, NY, 16 grandchildren; Gregory A. Kilburn of Arcade, NY, Kurt M. (Nancy) Kilburn of West Falls, NY, Stacy E. Kilburn of Arcade, NY, Laura L. (Jared) Pierce of Arcade, NY, Matthew R. (Julie) Kilburn of San Francisco, CA, Alex K. Kresovich of Durham, NC, Jake K. (Catherine) Kresovich of Durham, NC, Douglas (Heather) Fullerton of Georgetown, TX, Daniel (Andrea) Fullerton of Webster, NY, David G. (Bettina) Kilburn of Japan, Courtney L. (Tim) Sherman of Lakeland, FL, Michael A. (Yese) Kilburn of Bellevue, NE Tiffany M. (Jamie) Ciminella of Erie, PA, Brittany S. (Matt) Prime of Lake View, NY, Ian K. Kilburn of Manchester, NH, Chelsea J. Kilburn of Louisville, KY, 17 great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Ann Trevathan of Desert Hot Springs, CA.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Ingrid Greta Viola Larson whom he married June 21, 1952 and who died January 28, 2012, In his memoir, he called his marriage to Ingrid “the smartest move I ever made”. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James S. Kilburn. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am Thursday at the Zion Covenant Church.

The Rev. Rick Miller, pastor will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:30 am Thursday, prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion Covenant Church, 520 Fairmount Ave. Jamestown, NY 14701 or to the American Red Cross, 325 E. Fourth St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
