Kristine Mary (Ziemer) Bastian, age 62, passed away peacefully after a two-year battle with clear cell ovarian cancer on July 14, 2018. She was born on July 8, 1956, to Walter and Iris (Schneider) Ziemer in Green Bay and grew up in rural De Pere. Kris graduated from De Pere High School in 1974 and then attended University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to earn a degree in Elementary Education in 1978.

Kris pursued a lengthy career in academic administration first at De Pere High School and then at Sheboygan Area School District where she retired in 2013. Kris loved the Lord and was a faithful servant of God.
Early in her life, she was involved with Lark United Methodist Church as secretary, teaching Sunday school, leading youth and singing in the choir. Kris loyally attended Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church where she taught Sunday School and participated in the yearly holiday brunch. Kris developed lasting friendships with church members, her care group and through Women’s Bible Study.
Kris strove to be an example to her family and friends. Kris enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes and creating delicious desserts. Her joy was in providing a wonderful meal for family and friends.
Kris and Joel were involved with Big Brother Big Sisters of Sheboygan and Kris tutored with Literacy Council of Sheboygan. Kris played a special role in her nieces and nephews lives, visiting for weekly dinners and writing messages in her ice cream. Kris felt blessed to have grandchildren in her life.
She spent many hours spoiling her grandkids and loved them to the moon and back. Kris is survived by her husband, Joel Bastian; daughter Michelle Jarvey (Mike) and grandchildren, Brandon and Natalie, Sheboygan; sister Judy England, De Pere; brothers-in-law James Bastian (Delores), Brillion and John Bastian (Nina), Manitowoc; nieces and nephews Paul England (Lorrie), Grayslake, Ill. , Tori England, De Pere, Brian Bastian, Brillion,Daniel Bastian (Sara), Madison and Ruth (Brandon) Cook; Little Brother Anthony Hoitink, Port Washington.
Kris was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Iris Ziemer; sister Suzanne Ziemer; father-in-law and mother-in-law Herb and Beatrice Bastian; and brother-in-law Don England. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Vince Lombardi Cancer Center in Sheboygan, St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, July 16, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels, 1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan.
Visitation continues on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with a service at 1 p.m. at Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church, 1710 N. 15th Street, Sheboygan.
