LaFern L. Washington was born on March 2, 1950 to the union of Otis Fern Washington and Fern Amanda Nugent. She was the second of six children. Her siblings referred to her as “Sister” which became her loving nickname.

She is preceded in death by her precious parents. LaFern was a native of Kansas City, Missouri. However, she was educated in both Kansas City and Oklahoma City.

She was a proud graduate of Southeast Senior High School “Home of the Knights” of Kansas City, Missouri. After receiving her formal education, she enrolled to Job Corps where she received a scholarship to further her education at Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. It was here where she pursued a degree in Education.

In addition to this achievement, she worked for Missouri State Congressman Emanuel Cleaver and for Citicady in Customer Service. At the age of ten, LaFern was baptized in Admore Oklahoma. Truly, she was a child of God and loved the Lord.

LaFern leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Daric R. Washington, Krystal Monique Washington (who both took excellent care of their mother until her health failed) siblings; Larry R. Washington, Brenda K.Washington, Gwendolyn Webster, and Lynette Williams; three God-children Dorean, Adrian and Eryn Washington. LaFern also leaves a host of friends and family.
