Obituary for Larry R. Flaminio Larry “Flip” Flaminio, 82, of Iron Mountain died peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Manorcare Healthcare Services with his family at his side. He was born January 21, 1936 in Iron Mountain, MI, son of the late Dominic and Hilma (Anderson) Flaminio. Larry was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1954.
He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Larry married Marian Janousek on April 18, 1959 in Quinnesec, MI and together they raised 3 children. He was a member of the American Martyr’s Church, Oak Crest Golf Course, the U.C.T., and a life member of the Iron Mountain Elks Club #700.
He was a former member of Pinegrove Country Club. Larry enjoyed camping with the family in his younger years, fishing and hunting. He and Marian wintered in Florida for a number of years and enjoyed those times.
Flip truly enjoyed his weekly card playing with his poker crew. They would usually play poker, eat well with a few drinks, share stories and jokes, and argue like “heck”. They were real buddies.
He was preceded in death by four siblings, Kenneth Flaminio, Donald Flaminio, Jean Paoli, and Geraldine “Sis” Perucco. Flip is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marian; three children, Scott (Lyn) Flaminio, Tom (Vicki) Flaminio, and Kathy Flaminio (Brian Henes); one sister, Noreen Gussert, four grandchildren, Tony (Theresa) Flaminio, Cory (Whitney) Flaminio, Jamie Flaminio, and Nicole (Dan) Menard; three step grandchildren, Andrew (Becky) Olson, Michael (Ashley) Olson, and Sarah (Josh) Swope. nine great grandchildren.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 am at the American Martyr’s Church.
Fr. Joseph Goin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
