Obituary for Lloyd Earl Hord Lloyd E. Hord, 73, of Kingsford, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. Lloyd was born on November 3, 1944 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Roy and Lorna (Davis) Hord. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1962 and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Lloyd married Patricia Rae McCarney on June 19, 1965 at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. He began his career in car sales in the mid 60’s and eventually opened his own used car dealership, Auto World, on the northside of Iron Mountain in 1972 which he owned & operated for over over thirty years until his retirement in 2006. Following his retirement, Lloyd worked part-time for Mark’s Auto.

Lloyd was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford where he served as an elder and volunteered in the soup kitchen for many years. He was an avid sports fan with baseball being his passion. He played fast pitch softball for over 25 years and especially enjoyed watching his sons’ and grandson’s baseball games.

Lloyd was also a referee for high school football and basketball games for 35 years. He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa and will be deeply missed. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patty; two sons, Scott Hord of Spread Eagle, WI and Jerrod (Linnea) Hord of Golden, CO; a brother, Duane Hord of Cape Coral, FL; a brother-in-law, Gary McCarney; a sister-in-law, Barb Hord; a grandson, Jaydon Hord, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Hord; a sister-in-law, Lois Hord; a brother-in-law, Gale McCarney; and his Godchild, Jim Hord. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm at the church.
