Obituary for Daniel J. Hoelzel Daniel J. Hoelzel, 69, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. He was born November 24, 1949 in Appleton, WI, son of the late Clarence and Dolores (Otte) Hoelzel. Dan graduated from Kimberly High School in 1967.

He worked for a total of 42 years as a control room operator between the Kaukauna Paper Mill and the Quinnesec Paper Mill. He was fondly known as “Pops” to many of his co-workers. Dan married Sharyl DeVet on October 1, 2004 in Iron Mountain.

He stated that he came into this life quietly and will leave quietly. Dan is survived his wife, Sharyl; a son, Judd (Erin) Hoelzel of Berthoud, CO; a grandson; Emmett; two brothers, Ron (Dawn) Hoelzel of Darboy, WI and Bob Hoelzel of Kaukauna; two sisters, Betty (Tom) Lamers of Darboy, WI and Bonnie Mueller of Madison, WI; three step-children, David (Chris) DeVet, Tammy (Curt) Cooper and Rick DeVet; six step-grandchildren; one step great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hoelzel.
