Larry Scott Nuismer, 77, of Lansing, MI, formerly of Traverse City, MI, passed away October 9, 2018 in Okemos MI. He was born December 1, 1940 in Grand Haven, MI, son of the late Joseph A. Nuismer and Ruth L. (Olsen) Nuismer. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Richard, Robert, and Donald.

Larry served in the U.S. Army 111th Military Intelligence Group, with duty station at Jacksonville, Florida, from 1963 to 1966. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1991, and after retirement… Read More » he enjoyed nine years working at Chateau Chantal Winery, Traverse City. He was an avid reader, enjoyed history (specifically the Civil War Era), gardening, and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his sons: Joseph A. “Tony” (Kara J.) Nuismer of Mattawan, MI, and Matthew L. Nuismer of Portage, MI, as well as brothers Anthony J. of Tucson, AZ, John T. of Tacoma, WA, and sister JoEllen (Brent) Ririe, of Gilbert, AZ. He is also survived by his loving companion and partner of 17 years, Patricia Freeman of Lansing, MI, and her children, Kelly Stewart and Erin (Matt) Filipich; grandchildren: Collin (Allison) Nuismer, Madison Nuismer, Heather Arnold, Jacob Danders, Samantha Filipich, Wesley and Hayden Stewart, and great-granddaughter, Nora Nuismer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 27, 2018, at Grace Episcopal Church, 341 Washington St., Traverse City, MI 49684.
