Obituary for Larry Wayne Day Larry Day was born October 7, 1947 to Roy Jackson and Martha Moore Day. He graduated in 1966 from A.L. Brown High School and went straight into the US Marine Corps. On his first leave home 51 years ago on Christmas Eve 1966, he married Martha Barnhardt.

He served in Vietnam until September of 1969. At home, he was in sales – Sun Drop, Coke, then Pepsi! He moved on to cars where he never made a lot of money – “honest” salesman seldom do, but he could tell you what color, make and model you bought from him 30 years later.

His family was his pride and joy. His children and grandchildren made him get out of bed when he didn’t feel like it to watch a football or basketball game or the beautiful cheerleaders on the side. He is survived by his daughters, Angie Haney and husband Doug and their children, Austin Sky and Nash; Andrea Kennerly Tshiona and husband Syl and their children, Dax, Grey, and Emma Bryce and stepchildren, Jordan, Syl and Briana Tshiona; and son, Andrew, who stands alone, but holds the title of Favorite Uncle.

Larry’s other love was his God and the Church in which he served Him. His roles as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher gave him much joy. He dearly loved each of the boys and girls he taught and still talks about the RA basketball team that was so bad that the refs were trying to help them out.

He loved nature, he loved fishing, and loved life. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, June 25, 2018 at Salisbury National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to McGill Baptist Church, 5300 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, NC 28027.
