Laura Annie Bronoel passed away peacefully at Comforts of Home in St. Croix Falls on Friday September 7, 2018 at the age of 102. Not many people get to celebrate their Golden Birthday twice. She was born on September 2, 1916 to Justin and Minnie (Brodersen) Bronoel in rural Balsam Lake.

Laura was one of eight children and the first born daughter born to Justin and Minnie. She was raised in rural Balsam Lake and attended school at Goose Lake through the eighth grade. Laura was baptized and confirmed… Read More » as an adult at Faith Lutheran Church in Balsam Lake.

She was blessed with one daughter, Pat. In the summer of 1954 Laura and Pat moved from the Twin Cities to rural Dresser where Laura became the housekeeper and caretaker for Mose, Teddy, and Harvey Anderson. Laura was a hard worker and worked for everything she had.

In 1963 she became “the cook” at the Lagoon Supper Club on Deer Lake where she worked for over 20 years. She was known for her deep fried shrimp and onion rings. After moving to St. Croix Falls in November 1984, Laura spent her retirement years babysitting and shaping the lives of many children well into her 90’s.

Laura lived a simple life and was not rich in wealth, however was blessed in many other ways. She was known as Grandma Laura to many. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, and making no bake cookies.

She spent countless hours wrapping ice cream cones at the Polk County Fair. She enjoyed doing seek and find puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire, baking, and watching Wheel of Fortune. Laura blessed and touched the lives of many.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Peterson, her parents, brothers Ernest, Lawrence, Philip, Clarence and Robert Bronoel. Sisters Elsie Heilig and Martha (Glen) Sather. The Bronoel family name comes to an end with the passing of Laura.

She is survived by her daughter, Pat, and son-in-law Gordy Peterson, Dresser, granddaughters Kate (Kevin) Montague, Barron, and Erin Peterson, St. Croix Falls. Laura is also survived by special friends Dr. Pat, Karen, Kayla, Luke, Ben, Noah and Olivia Hedlund, Karen and Dave Danielson, Mitt Horsmann, and Tammy Nelson, along with nieces and nephews. Her family is grateful for the care and compassion she was given her last days by the staff at Comforts of Home, the St. Croix Regional Medical Hospital, and Adoray Hospice.

The world lost a Legend today but heaven gained an angel.
