William D. Alger, age 81 of Pine City passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his residence. William was born on July 31, 1937 in Thorp, Wisconsin to parents, Sidney and Louise (Anton) Alger. He attended Thorp Schools and served his country in the U. S. Navy for several years.

Upon his return from the Navy he worked at St. Paul Dressed Meats, the Hamm’s Brewery and eventually took a job as a manager for Progress Castings where he worked for many years before he retired. He also was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. William will be remembered for the love of his family. He is survived by his wife, Maxine, children, Char (Joel) Anderson, Billie Jo (Kevin) Benolken, Debra (Michael) LaBore, Bruce Alger and Tricia (Cordell) Schroeder; grandchildren, Keith (Catherine) Benolken, Jeff Anderson, William Anderson, Greg Benolken, Colton Schroeder and Chloe Schroeder, great grandchildren, Catlin Johnson, Faith Johnson, Keith Benolken, Jr., Leland Anderson and Landon Anderson as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Louise, brothers, Sidney, Jr., John and Richard and sister, Sandy Erickson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
