Gerald Lee “Jerry” Hoover, age 67, of Scandia, MN passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Jerry was born December 24, 1950, in Forest Lake, MN to Walter and Shirley (Shaleen) Hoover. He was a 1968 graduate of White Bear Lake High School.

Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam from 1969 until 1972. He returned to attend the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1976. Jerry was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Kemp on September 14, 1979, in White… Read More » Bear Lake.

He was employed as a mechanical engineer for several companies. Jerry was a lifetime member of the Forest Lake VFW Post 4210. His zest for life led him to throw himself into many various hobbies and interests.

He was involved with veterans groups, beekeeping, and animals. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Shirley. He is survived by his wife, Betty; three children, Trisha (Jacob) Strohmayer, Heather (David) Gutz, and Andrew (Nicole) Hoover; eight grandchildren, Austin and David Lester, Trinity Strohmayer, Dominic and Aubree Derocker, and Samantha, Alexander, and Nicholas Gutz; sister, Diane (Roland) Maine; also nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Forest Lake VFW Post 4210.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
