Alice Ida Olson died November 24, 2018 at the age of 99 in Appleton, Wisconsin, where she moved to from Osceola in 2017 so that her immediate family could better care for her and visit more often. She was born August 12, 1919 with a twin brother, Allan, to Roy and Minnie Davis at her parents’ home near Star Prairie, Wisconsin on the Polk/St. Croix County line. Alice and Harold had five children: Donald H. Olson, Steven H. Olson (Dana), Eugene A. Olson (Ginger), Mary E. Olson, and Martha J. Olson (Jeffery Keane).

They also had 8 grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Family was always an important part of Alice’s and Harold’s life. Their immediate family has been gathering annually between Christmas and New Year for over 40 years.

It has been rare that any of the family has not been able to attend. Recent years have seen 35+ gather for 3 days of family, food, cards, and other fun during the holidays. Alice also stayed close to her and Harold’s siblings and families.

We are grateful to our cherished uncles and aunts and cousins who have stayed close to her over the many years. Seeing as much of the United States as possible was a passion for Alice and Harold. They spent more than 40 years camping and traveling across the country.

Alice was also involved with the Osceola Homemakers, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies’ Aid, where she has been a member since the 1940’s. She worked for many years in the Osceola grade school lunch room and also volunteered at the local hospital. She and Harold were involved in many other activities connected with the Village of Osceola.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold (2005), and all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Mercedes “Toots” Davis (Allan), Alice Olson (Edward) and LaRayne Olson (Victor), and a brother-in-law, George Olson and wife Ruth, plus numerous nephews and nieces.
