In Memory of LaVerne Francis Lyles Foster May 27, 1928 – March 5, 2019 LaVerne Francis Lyles Foster, age 90, passed away Tuesday March 5, 2019 at the Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care Center in her hometown of Scottsville, KY. Born May 27, 1928, she was the only child of Hobert Wilson Lyles and Lena Mae Brown Lyles. A Christian woman in both word and deed, LaVerne was a lifelong Methodist who attended Mount Pleasant United Methodist during the first half of her life, and Scottsville First United Methodist during the second.

LaVerne married Paul Crowe Foster at 8:00 AM on June 25, 1949 with the Reverend H.H. Ogles officiating and Paul C.’s brother and sister-in-law, Curtis Foster, Jr. and his wife Lou Edith, attending. LaVerne’s long and loving marriage ended with Paul C.’s unexpected passing on April 14, 1994. LaVerne was a career employee of the USDA’s Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and loved meeting and working with the farmers of Allen County.

LaVerne is survived by her son Dr. Franklin Foster and his wife, Gaye, her daughter Vivian Secrest and her husband Jim, Jr., her four grandchildren; Melissa Secrest Schwartz, Traci Secrest Berry and husband, Tyler, Rachel Foster Kirk and her husband, Seth, and Paul Curtis Foster, five great-grandchildren: Andrew Foster Berry, Silas Olivia Schwartz, James Tyler Berry, Nathaniel Seaton Berry, and Wynn Bishop Kirk. Visitation will be Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM at T. W. Crow and Son Funeral Home and Sunday from 7:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the T.W. Crow and Son Funeral Home with burial in the Mt.

Pleasant UMC cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Home.
