Died Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Bronson Battle Creek. Lawrence was born on December 6, 1933, in Chicago, IL, the son of George H. and Evelyn J. (Strauss) Gilbert. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1952 until his retirement in 1972.

On January 15, 1954, he was united in marriage to the former Georganna Spencer who survives. Lawrence was employed with Kroger from 1950 to 1952, VA Hospital from 1973 to 1994 and Regional Lab retiring after 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Lawrence enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching westerns.

Surviving are his children, Patrick Gilbert, Susan (Kevin) Miller, Tracy Gilbert and Teresa Gilbert; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Diane Gilbert. He was preceded in death by daughters, Catherine Mary in 1973 and Cynthia Steinburg; a son, David Gilbert; a grandson, James Levi; a sister, Eva Clugston and brothers, George and Robert Gilbert. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, MI.
