Born Leatrice Cooley on June 20, 1930 in La Habra to Albert and Dorothy Cooley, Lee passed away in Elk Grove on June 12, 2018 from complications of a ten-year struggle with Alzheimer Disease. Lee met her future husband, Navy veteran Jack E. Hill, after the end of World War II and married him in 1947 in San Juan Capistrano. Jack and Lee started a family and lived in Brea until 1962, when Jack moved the family to Elk Grove to work for Proctor and Gamble.

Lee worked for Mar-Val as… Read More » a checker for 21 years and part-time for Red Oak BBQ in Elk Grove. She was widowed after 40 years of marriage in 1987. Lee loved crocheting, reading, gardening, bowling, good movies, and spending time in Tahoe, and the family always enjoyed the holiday meals and baked goods she prepared.

Lee was very generous with her time and money, and touched all who knew her. Lee is survived by her two daughters Lauralee Meyer and Dawn German (Rick) and son Jack Hill (Nancy); her sister Linda Bickerstaff (Ken) and brother Bill Cooley; four grandsons Brian Meyer (Takako), Kevin Meyer (Jessica), Michael German (Tina), and Ryan German; and six great grandchildren. Lee will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her well.

A memorial service will be held at East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary at 10:00am, June 28. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
