Obituary for Leon Folson Leon “Blaze” Folson was born on January 9, 1949 in Pine Ridge, SD to Earl Folson and Myrtle Bergen. “Blaze” passed away unexpectedly in Tucson, AZ on September 11, 2018 at the age of 69. Blaze served in the U.S. Army from 10/17/1974 to 03/19/1975 and was honorably discharged.

Blaze touched so many lives during his lifetime. He was always willing to listen and lend a hand to someone in need. He moved back and forth between South Dakota and Arizona and stayed with his family in his later years.

He was well loved and surrounded by his family during the last months of his life. Blaze is survived by his only daughter, Lauren Folson of Tucson, AZ; his only son, Leon D. Folson of Santa Rosa, AZ; sister-in-law, Malinda Folson of North Santa Rosa, AZ; nieces, Lisa Folson of Wanum Ke’K, AZ, Anita Folson Vavages of Chuichu, AZ, Connie Folson of North Santa Rosa, AZ and Katie Begay of Casa Grande, AZ; grandchildren, Darren, Jesse, Kenneth, Katrina, Stephen, Toshia and Jericho Folson, Luke Vavages, Tessa Eleando and Ta’te, Mato and Masi Begay and Shawneen Arvicio; great-grandchildren, Vega, Delo and Marcos Folson, and Kimimila Folson. Blaze was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Folson and Myrtle Bergen; brothers, Harlan :Punky”, Snooks, Chaunce, Fred, Timmy and Chipper Folson; nephew, Lee Allen Folson; and niece, Amy Folson.

Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 4:30 PM, Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Billy Mills Hall in Pine Ridge, SD with vigil services starting at 7:00 PM.
