Bennettsville, SC Mr. Leonard Chestnutt, 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Cheraw Health. Born March 29, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio to Laurel Gill White and the late Otis Chestnut. Mr. Chestnutt spent 10 years in the U.S. Army and later was a fireman in several city municipals.

Mr. Chestnutt attended the Church of Christ in Bennettsville. A ministry special to Leonard was making everyone feel special and not forgotten. He always remembered everybody’s birthday and took them all cakes.

Mr. Leonard was survived by his wife of 36 years Barbara Chestnutt of Bennettsville; mother Laurel Gill White of Westerville, OH. ; a son, Lonny Chestnutt of Spartanburg, SC. ; daughters, Veltreshia Reid of Toledo, OH.

, Telshia Chestnutt of Toledo, OH. ; brothers, Loren Chestnut of Columbus, OH. , Columbus Parker of Toledo, OH.

, Michael Chestnut of Toledo, OH. ; a sister, Goletha Smith of Camby, Indiana; 9 Grandchildren and a multitude of special nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Leonard. Mr. Leonard was preceded in death by his father listed above, sister’s Peggy G. Roscoe and Laurie Parker.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Burroughs Funeral Home followed by burial with military honors at Leland Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 6-8 P.M. Saturday May 5, 2018 at Burroughs Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice 309 E. Main St. Bennettsville, SC.
