LeRoy LaVern Dissmeyer, 53, of Cortland passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 20, 2019. He was born August 10, 1965 to LaVern and Marilyn Schoen Dissmeyer at Beatrice Mennonite Hospital. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice.

He was a member of 4-H throughout his high school years. He graduated from Beatrice High in May of 1984 and went to SCC Milford for Welding Technology and graduated in 1988. He worked at Goossen Industries, Nebraska Machine and NPPD-Hallam.

He married Kerry Wallman at St. John Lutheran Church on September 3, 1988 and they later divorced. He loved his boys and enjoyed going to their activities. He liked to fabricate and weld, garden and watch NASCAR and James Bond movies.

Survivors include his sons, Colton (Cortney) Dissmeyer and Chase Dissmeyer all of Adams; his mother, Marilyn Dissmeyer of Beatrice; two sisters, Lisa (Craig) Evers of Beatrice and Marcia (Shawn) Bartels of Plymouth; two nieces, Haleigh Newman and fiancé Richie Osienger and Dalaney Evers all of Beatrice; two great-nieces, Kinzlee Newman and Melah Osienger both of Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his father, LaVern Dissmeyer (May 8, 2017); one brother, Michael Dissmeyer (April 5, 1978); grandparents, Louis and Anna Dissmeyer and Louis and Mary Schoen; one nephew, Josh Newman (January 21, 2017). Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Leah Lawson and Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating.

Honorary urn bearers will be Craig Johnson, Troy Moormeier, Matt Dissmeyer and Kelly Daugherty. Private inurnment of the cremains will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery of Lincoln. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Thursday in the church chapel.

A memorial has been established to the Children’s Hospital of Omaha. There will be no viewing. The body has been cremated.

A register book will be available at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. that evening. www. foxfuneralhome.net Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
